Epilepsy and Seizure Support Course (NDIS)

This course is designed for NDIS support workers to develop the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to safely support people living with epilepsy and seizure disorders.

Participants will learn how to recognise different seizure presentations, provide safe seizure first aid, respond appropriately during and after a seizure, and follow an individual’s Epilepsy Management Plan (EMP) in line with NDIS practice expectations.

Delivery:

Online learning (approximately 1 hour) plus a face-to-face practical session (approximately 1 hour).

This course provides awareness and first aid training only and does not authorise emergency seizure medication administration without separate workplace-approved training and competency assessment.

 

Subcutaneous Injection Training –(Blended)

This Subcutaneous Injection Training – is a blended learning course designed for NDIS disability support workers who have previously completed subcutaneous injection training and require an annual refresher to maintain safe and compliant practice under delegation.

The course aligns with the NDIS Practice Standards, organisational medication policies, and delegation requirements. It supports workers who assist with or administer prescribed subcutaneous injections in accordance with an individualised support plan.


Course Content

In this refresher course, participants will review:

  • Key principles of subcutaneous injection practice

  • Delegation, consent, and scope of practice under the NDIS

  • Infection control and sharps safety requirements

  • Approved injection sites, site rotation, and risk prevention
    (including identification and prevention of lipohypertrophy)

  • Documentation requirements and escalation of concerns in line with organisational policy


Delivery & Duration

Online Learning (Theory)

  • Self-paced online learning

  • Approx. 45–60 minutes

Face-to-Face Practical Assessment

  • 1-hour in-class session

  • Supervised practical demonstration and assessment

  • Conducted by a qualified trainer/assessor

This course is delivered as a blended model. Participants must complete both components.


Assessment Requirements

To successfully complete this course, participants must:

  • Achieve 80% or higher in the online knowledge assessment

  • Be assessed as Competent in the face-to-face practical assessment using a trainer checklist

Assessment outcomes are recorded as Competent / Not Yet Competent.


Certification

Upon successful completion of both the online theory and the in-class practical assessment, participants will be issued a:

Certificate of Completion
Issued by First Aid Certified (ONEU Health Solutions Pty Ltd)


Important Information

This course provides a skills and knowledge refresher only.

It does not authorise independent medication administration.

Participants must work within:

  • Their delegated role

  • Organisational policies and procedures

  • Individual support plans

  • Applicable legislation and professional requirements

Mental Health First Aid is a course intended for the public to gain an understanding of a first response approach to assisting an adult experiencing mental health concerns.  This course introduces students to a range of mental health concerns, and, through a Four-step action plan, students learn how to respond to someone who is experiencing mental health concerns.

Course Objectives:

  • Gain a clear understanding of mental health issues.
  • Learn practical strategies to support mental health awareness.
  • Increase knowledge of conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, Psychosis, and Schizophrenia.
